This is fictional, though there were a few girls I thought I would have liked to marry before I met my wife.
It isn’t fair to her that I still think of you
No, it’s really not fair to her
That I still think of you.
When I thought about forever,
I used to think of you.
I was ready to settle down;
I thought that you were too…
But when I saw you play around,
I knew that we were through.
When I later met another
(to help get over you),
I was happy to be with her.
I’d gotten over you.
We ended up getting married,
And we were happy, too.
But it might have been too hurried--
I’m not quite over you.
She didn’t lie to me; you did.
She didn’t cheat on me; you did.
She didn’t abandon me; you did.
So I should be thinking of her; not you!
I know I’m better off with her,
Than I once was with you.
And it’s really not fair to her
For me to think of you.
So when I hold her close tonight ,
And just think of us two,
Then everything will be all right.
I won’t think about you.
She didn’t lie to me; you did.
She didn’t cheat on me; you did.
She didn’t abandon me; you did.
So I will be thinking of her; not you!
