It Is
It is a truth
I do not dare parade
kept to myself
as scare prevailed
that I would lose you
had I said
what thoughts I trade
with heart and head
It is the yearning
cry within my flesh
that suffocates
as I repress
its being with a weak pretence.
The shadow of my true intent
It is the silent prayer
I often make
while God and I
still lay awake,
the thing I ask Him
more than most.
That dear days dawn
I hope would break
It is you my darling
and my love for you,
and all the best
that I could want for you,
the cord
upon myself incurred
in want and need
and written word.
It is all that
I have ever dreamed
and all that
I have ever seen,
all that we
have ever been
and all I wish
we’ll ever be
