It Has Been a Long Time Since I'Ve Been Here
it has been a long time since i've been here
can i leave my poems here
everything was always safe with your protective eye
each time i return here i have to pause
words are like indecisively constipated turtles
for whatever reason, the poems in my mind come softly and freely here
all the insects never seem to notice me here, so in a strange way i feel at home
nothing matters here but creativity, art, and thought
all that's really missing is a listening ear and a warm fire in what once was a useful fireplace
it has been a long time since i've been here
can i leave my poems here
everything was always safe with your protective eye
the many floods over the years have done quite a number on every part of this place
untouched though is my favorite corner, which i always thought was sprinkled with magic
light bulbs in multifarious shades of value shine here until eternity fades to the next chapter
there is a breeze that focuses on the cooling of my mind
i can feel it in the air before the air even knows it is there
my listening ear is my black notebook, and my mouthpiece of expression is my old black nogginknocker pen
