It Doesn'T Show
Sometimes I'm calm, and sometimes I tremble
whenever I see someone you resemble.
Though it was over some time ago,
I still spend some time with you on my mind --
But, it doesn't show.
Each day it seems that my heart remembers
the warmth of a love that's now just an ember.
What once was a flame is now just a glow--
but each night, it seems, you're still in my dreams
But, it doesn't show.
You left a scar where it wouldn't show --
and just you and I are all who will know --
Although I may smile wherever I go,
whenever we meet, my heart skips a beat --
But, it doesn't show.
My heart will try to keep on pretending
the love that was ours did not have an ending.
But, someday, I'm sure, the truth it will know --
It just won't believe that you'd ever leave --
So, it doesn't show.
You left a scar where it wouldn't show --
and just you and I are all who will know --
What once was a flame is now just a glow --
but each night, it seems, you're still in my dreams
But, it doesn't show.
