It Cannot Be Known
It was before if I ever knew
Yet a past I've never known
A future always promises new
An exchange for a tomorrow to own
They say you cannot change the past
I say... what did I know to change the future?
Because it hasn't happen for one to ask
Only a beginning we can ever learn to nurture
How do one begin tomorrow for the end of yesterday?
Is there enough time to remember a lifetime?
Where life for every person silently falls away
Perhaps a lifetime is only measurable in hours to find
As we fall in place and form our core
We become harder to change how we've become
To be the strongest when stubborn and to easily ignore
That there are no rules to begin with to change for what we want
Have I yet lived in a past I own?
Because from it I plan for my every morrow anew
The future for the past forever unknown
Was it before if I ever only knew...
