Iridescent
You held me up,
and dropped me
while I scrambled to stab my heart
and I didn't bother,
I didn't look up
because I knew you would be right there-
before me-
like you always were-
haunting my optimistic soul
but while fire caught me and the walls melted-
you saved me.
you carried me out
and then the expectations came
and the lies bled through steel-
so evident and raw-
you severed my heart to steal with pride
and now you'll never let me go?
You came to me at lowest
you left me at my strongest
and though I hate you,
I've come to love you
and all you've put me through
as long as you don't drop me
