Intentional Scars

I have lived a life where I wanted to hide from pain. I left all feelings in the scars I created. I used a pin to cut so deep, each scar I hid so noone could see. I would watch the blood drip slowly down my skin, and would focus on the pain, the red liquid paint, my novacaine. Intentional scars remind me of who I was, emotionless, frightened of what I had become. I can now look back at what I've done, learn from the scars that helped me become numb. I know to cry, instead of run to pain, know to feel, instead of bleed. I feel a new blood flow in my veins, one that thrives to live, instead of die.
