Author's Notes: This is a "Tanka" or a Japanese verse form write on the subject of "Intelligence." I wrote this one as a companion write in comparison and contrast to the earlier Tanka I released today under the title of "Stupidity." My purpose in many past Tanka writes was always to present a pair of mutually exclusive topics, i.e., one on the positive side and the other on the negative side. I've found over time that it is often difficult to mention one particular topic without also touching on its philosophical or relational opposite. "Man's differentiation . . . ," as I mention in the fourth verse of this Tanka has the flavor of Mankind's place in the evolutionary schema of living creatures on our Earth. There is much to think about here with this particular write. (Gary Bateman - May 15, 2015) (Tanka)
