Inspired by Johannes Vermeer's Girl With A Pearl Earring

I am a suitor sneaking upon her
or perhaps a light breeze upon her shoulder

exasperation or is it disappointment parts her lips,
simple indifference, unfulfilled hope?

turban undisturbed,
in careful turn from light

would be I the target of her stare,
the reason for embalmment leap

to me, to sit
on this Mauritshus bench.

absolutely beautifully penned on a painting that once seen never forgotten.... your take on being the potential reason for her gaze i find most enchanting... seems that is why we are drawn sometimes to a work of art is that they make us feel involved... lovely piece indeed

I know the painting well. In fact, a college friend of mine fashioned a really good reproduction. YOU have captured her quiet beauty so well here. '...turban undisturbed,' SWEET! BRAVO Kathy!! Love, Keith :)
