Insomniacs' Thoughts
On a night when most are resting quiet in bed,
There are those of us this peace evades.
How we yearn for a chance to rest our heads,
To ease our minds, abiding in a quiet haze.
While some shall work throughout the night,
Our minds will race to unreachable ends
Toiling to find that which once our friend.
Is this now the daydream that never ends?
Oh! To rest and frolic in dreamland
Oh! To once again receive the gift of age old sandman.
When will our suffering end?
Why has sleep disregarded us so?
Have we offended or angered?
Or do we refuse to let the peaceful one in?
Enjoy the night we tell ourselves,
So quiet and cool is the breezes touch
Oh! How we miss our old friend such,
That forever to yearn is our shared fate
Forever this curse we shall always hate.
