Insomnia
When I'm in bed at 3am
and I can't get to sleep,
once I've scribbled down my thoughts
and I'm listening to my clock,
as it ticks and it tocks in time
with my heartbeat,
I like to pretend you're there.
I imagine you're with me.
I close my eyes and make believe.
I know your smell, and I imagine
that I'm curled up in your arms,
Your warm comforting embrace.
That way I can sleep.
I can drift off, knowing you're here,
that you're with me and I'm safe.
