Innocence Lost There's something in a babies touch. Tiny hand wrapped around your finger. That cuts right through the heart of man where it's memory will always linger. Touched by love so warm and sweet. Where there exists no doubt. That you will keep them safe somehow and they will never go without. Innocence etched in their eyes that as time comes soon will go. One day slowly chipped away by the things they'll someday know. They make their way and spread their wings through joy and tears they'll cry. So much on earth for them to see before they can learn to fly. Chasing dreams that they will dream some dreams they learn from you. Learning from the yearning that not all dreams come true. Then from then until right now the once child stands as grown. Innocence like a memory from the life that they have known. And then they feel a babies touch a tiny hand wrapped around their finger. That cuts right through the heart of man where it's memory will always linger. Edwin C Hofert
