Innocence

I want to revert back to sweeter times, When laughter and carelessness were in style, And everything was a new discovery Those memories, however vivid are distant They seem like nothing more lately, Than the dust which sits and grows On the pile of books I used to love The world around me grows ever so cold, And the darkness makes it hard to see The happiness which used to be a part of me. I want to become a tabula rasa once again, I want to feel the warmth of my mother for the first time once more, I want to weep like a puppy when my father Leaves for the night My innocence is the one thing I’d give Everything to have once again.
