In the Wake
In the setting sun, I cast away the anchors
And set sail my wooden vessel of dreams
I, the captain and the crew, alone savvy orders
And keep the deck a splendid shine, I scream
Nay, none wave too bold to steal away my sailing soul in sleep while I claim the
seas
Nay, none pirate has seen the likes of me and I dare him to attempt such an act
with ease
Tis’ my wooden vessel
Tis’ my setting sun
And I claim this whole sea for me
‘Cause I am the captain
‘Cause I am the thief
Who takes what I want and see…
…’Cause, a pirate’s life for me!
Stars twinkle like treasure so stole up high
In the velvet skies that hide the hands
For what holds them there above my head
In a daring grip so high above the lands
Nay, I merely stay aboard my sailing ship when there’s diamonds to be had for
me
Nay, I rest my soul til I have those twinkling jewels and force the would be thieves
to flee
Tis’ my diamond stars
Tis’ my wanting treasure
And I claim this whole sea for me
‘Cause I am the one
‘Cause I am the thief
Who takes what I want and see…
…’Cause a pirate’s life for me!
I see golden reflections in the eyes ashore
And know they must be calling to me
I shall put them in my pockets for me to keep
And be the richest man the world will ever see
Alas, I set sail to the fringed edges of land where bounty and riches stack high in
the air
Alas, I aim my bow to the golden eyes that belong in my treasure box of pirate flair
Tis’ my golden eyes
Tis’ my squinting flair
And I claim this whole sea for me
‘Cause I am the man
‘Cause I am the thief
Who takes what I want and see…
…’Cause a pirate’s life for me!
As the sun rises from the black horizon
And sets shine across the gleaming seas
I see treasure flashing from each wave
That I must steal just for me
Yes, I take what treasure no one else can ever steal and I take it just for me
Yes, I am a pirate and I am a thief that must steal to keep my sails at sea
Tis’ the pirate’s way
Tis’ Life at sail
And I claim this whole sea for me
‘Cause I choose to sail
‘Cause I choose to be
One who takes what I want and see…
And a pirate’s life for me!
