In the Space, After the Dream

The electricity crackles Too loudly in the air I keep seeing heart shapes In my dreams, on the blanket Snapping upright, awake, over and over I can't try and get back to sleep right now The moon light is permeating the walls Flooding my brain I'm sat quietly drinking tea But my heart is the weight of rocks Rocks I chose unwisely to try to skim On the waters surface once upon a time That sank Someone, somewhere is restless But I'm feeling it, in electrical currents Under my skin, invisible but tingling I feel like a trapped animal My hearing is acute I feel like I need to check the headlines The only news jumping off the page is about Sleeper trains Could whatever haunts me be out run If I slept on the move I keep hearing thudding As if someone is going up and down stairs But it's my own heartbeat I'm in the space After the dream Where something is real
