In the Shadow of the Mountain
In the Shadow of the Mountain
I live at the foot of the snow-covered mountain.
When I rise in the morning and gaze at the valley below,
My eyes see the frost covered grass at my feet.
I breathe in the crisp cold clean smelling air.
As it escapes my shrinking lungs,
I see the warm mist expand into the air.
I turn and look at the mountain behind me.
Looking at it, I start to get excited and think,
Maybe we will go for a walk upon it today.
Reluctantly, and slowly I approach the door.
I know warmth awaits me inside,
When I reach the door, I let out a loud bark saying, let me in.
