In the Candles Light

Heat rises as the candles burn Each one shedding its waxy tears In the candles light sits a couple Newly weds of early that day The two are madly in love Haveing dinner pleasent talk of love Sipping wine, laughing, haveing a good time but suddenly silence, What happens next takes a turn for the worst The shattering of a glass A blood curdling scream then silence , nothing but dead silence In the candles light The love they shared will last for good But their lives were taken Now sorrow over the to lovers has taken hold on all the world

Very compelling, Christian. I can't help but wonder what caused the glass to shatter and the sorrow to ensue. Was it the loss of virginity? I was mesmerized by the story in this poem, vividly describing the sharing of love between newlyweds. The first line really caught my attention. On winter nights, I would light a candle or two in the metal sink on the cabin cruiser I had and the heat rose and made cold nights much warmer. Very nice writing! Love, Carolyn
