In the Calm of Night

The radiance of day withdrawn An old moon a lamp up high; A barn owl keeps still across the lawn While orioles decide to fly. Robins nestle for the night, Sky paints a deep shade of blue Even the gust falls with the light; So we shall take our rest too. Evening is a memory now Secure in calm of dawn all right… Lullabies are heard from each bough In the glow of silver white. Poem 202 Contest for Brian Strand 9/16/2016
