where is the light

a single setback prelude to an avalanche health, friendships, property, finances lay buried in angst, waiting for a thaw life gone awry paranoia intrudes beast with talons scrapes the bones behind each corner it waits chameleon of many faces anxiety’s confusing design apprehension overcomes the victim when perceiving camouflaged predators who goes there friend or foe stomach knots, eyes tear prey trembles in the beast’s pursuit elusive is the light that leads from the valley of trepidation where tentacles of anxiety choke the breath of reason

Well done Carolyn. There is so much anxiety in the world. uncertainty and worry over things real and imagined. We have to learn to sit back and take a breath and just keep doing our best to do our best. With God all things are possible. God |bless, JB

We often fear the unknown, it is a human emotion that we all try fervently to conquer. That is where faith comes in, in times such as these. You have expressed these fears beautifully in this moving poem Carolyn. Brava! ; ) 7

This is free verse at its best, Carolyn. A dark and expressive poetical definition of a troubled mind reeling in murky waters. Hugs // paul

- Paranoia, is a form of serious mental illness, cruel suffering Carolyn - Mind / head filled with suspicion and delusions that you describe here in your poem -Anxiety is a lighter form of this disease ... we all have felt at some point ... I want to believe :) - A great description with your words (7) - Best wishes in the contest and a lovely weekend :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Anxiety can drive one mad for sure, Mrs Carolyn. Probably one reason so many Americans smoke marijuana. It clouds reality. Very well written as usual:)

Carolyn, this is so dark and so desperate but a better definition I don't believe could be found anywhere. This poem goes deep and reveals the pain, the confusion and the paranoia associated with anxiety. This is so good. You are extremely talented.
