In Hope Lies My Dreams
Where's it written, fairies can’t cry,
nor feel passion, anger or rage?
And it’s not enough we can fly,
if only in fantasy’s cage.
I follow from the forest trail,
hypnotized by his eyes of blue.
Yet, my sisters, to no avail,
insist such love cannot be true.
I wish I had a human heart,
so I might feel his tender touch.
And though our worlds fall far apart,
is it wrong to want him so much?
Hope cannot wash away the tears,
that shadow my pursuit of love.
Yet in hope lies my dreams and fears,
feelings I’m keenly aware of.
To experience mortal things,
I’d trade my magic for a soul.
And I'd gladly give up my wings,
for just a chance of feeling whole.
