In Darkness

I found you sitting in the darkness. With the shades drawn you find comfort in the pain. Sometimes you wish you were so far away, to the place where your guardian angel waits. You light your candles to surrender, let the pain come and run its angry course. Induce a smile while you're pretending that this picture paints a thousand pleasant words. You watch the world through vacant eyes. The silent girl who's screaming inside. An angel born with wingless shoulders. You're all alone, but you're reaching out, and you don't know it. I found you sitting in the darkness where your hate's expressed through your creativity. You paint the picture with subconscious fingers until the light comes on and you've lost lucidity. You write a poem in your own language of fear because the words reveal your own masked reality. When your reflection's standing in the mirror do you know the you that your eyes wont let you see? You numb the pain with needles and pills nothing to gain and nothing to fill the hole inside, it grows deeper each day. No place to hide when its written all over your face. How does it feel to be not who you want to be, wanting so much to be somebody else. Closing your eyes to see only what you want to see, you find all the reasons to keep on hating yourself. I wont take you for granted, I'll reach for your hand if you wont let go. I'll hold you closest to my own soul if you'll hold on I wont let go.
