I'M Sorry Lord
CXXXIV
I'm sorry Lord, O please forgive my sin
So many times and oft you hear me say
Vain empty words that fill a world within
That feigns to stay the way it went astray
I'm sorry Lord, what do I really mean?
With tears confess my life is so much lean
Just take away the grief, but not the sin
That which I love, I do not truly wean
I'm sorry Lord, my sin I do not hate
That seem unjust to make thee serve and wait
Against thyself my faults would not partake
O cast me not, a true clean heart create
And though beneath the ashes of my sin
An ember lies; tis there where thou hast been
