I rang my dear friend bringing tiding’s of great joy we’re both delighted! such simple pleasures I’ve sourced some baking powder ... let baking commence! I’ve tried for many many weeks to get baking powder for my elderly friend, today I hit the jackpot and got the last 2 tubs, one for her one for me. Such a little thing but we were both over the moon. I know many people are spending more time baking now lock down has commenced, I was unable to get sugar for my friend the shelves were empty in our big supermaket but I managed to get it locally. 05/16/20

yes, it's such a wonderful feeling when we can get certain items again - for me, it was bubble bath, LOL. Sad, I know...

Great local news, & getting back to some of the best of the PAST lifestyles. I do recall, fondly, Mom & "aunties" over the fence "borrowing of sugar, a cup of this & that." Jan, having less in the kitchen is such a CREATIVE blessing. (Not that I will relocate to the slums, LOL!) shalom

Rationing would certainly have helped manage rubbing alcohol and toilet paper! 3-months now sans rubbing alcohol! Good luck with that! Aloha! Rico

Scarcity makes even small things seem like gold! Luckily over here we seem to be able to find anything we want...so far...fingers crossed. Last week the authorities decided to start easing up on virus restrictions, now all of a sudden the numbers of positive cases are rising again! Hugs // paul

WE can get most things except baking items which seem to be in very short supply, its been many weeks for me to get the baking powder my friend asked me to get - the sign in our biggest supermarket said stocks are expected on 24th May so i was so happy to find it locally and much cheaper too!:-)Hope you are fully settled in your palace:-) hugs Jan xx

my brother-in-law had the same experience with trying to locate flour for his bread-baking machine. he was thrilled to finally procure a 25 pound bag, much more than he actually needed. i'm sure many people will be able to relate to your poem, jan...

It took me weeks to find the baking powder and also spelt flour for my friend , when the health food store finally opened (1 customer in one out) and I was able to get flour for her bread machine - our friend is in her early 80's I try and get as much shopping for them as I can and do a BIG shop about every 10 days but we speak nearly every day so I know they are ok:-) hope all is well with you and your family:-) hugs Jan xx

I think the flour, baking Powder and yeast we have will last us a good six months! At least we can bake bread and drink water. Wouldn't be the first time that the water has been shut off in our suburb - so, we have 25 bottles of water - each 5 litres - sorry to bring doom and gloom - food and water will be scarce over the next 10 years - says google! Couldn't find garbage bags for two weeks, fortunately we had a lot of plastic carrier bags from our shopping above! Stay safe Jan, Hugs, Jennifer.

I get shopping for them almost every week - they are late 70's early 80s, we have been friends for over 22 years now:-) we can get yeast but sugar was like gold dust and baking powder has been off the shelves for about 6 weeks, I went in to get milk and saw the last 2 tubs of pb so i grabbed them and was smiling like a cheshire cat!:-) hugs Jan xx
