I'M a Stranger That's Homeless

I've been a hard worker all my life Got married and was loving wife Me and Al became best friends fast I just knew our wedded bliss would last Our family became a total of four I was so happy, I couldn't ask for more A friend asked me to go to Vegas I got super high, it was contagious I went from middle class to an addict My home was no longer loving, just conflict I emptied out our joint account It wasn't no small amount I got fired from job, because I didn't show My husband kicked me out and said just go Now I lay on the sidewalk that's now home I can't sleep at night so I just roam My life is constantly in danger And my kids see me as a stranger 10-21-16 Alexis Y Inspired by the homeless contest

Hi Freddie, Thanks for such a comment. However, the pure was straight fiction. It was inspired by the homeless contest. I appreciate your visits because they are always so positive: -)Alexis

Very sadly true too often but penned magnificently. When I was in college in Albuquerque there were Indian casinos all around the outskirts of town and tragically this story was repeated on a daily basis. They had check cashing centers in the casinos specifically for folks who received government benefits (primarily native Americans) that would hand you a pamphlet on dealing with gambling addiction while cashing your welfare check so you could deposit it into the slot machines. Disgusting
