Ijeoma
IJEOMA (ADIEU)
In the wee hours
They sat down upstairs
At table
To a sumptuous
Three course meal
Present at table were:
Morning, afternoon, evening,
The moon, the stars, night and darkness
Appetizer was served
In the morning
Then,
Entree in the afternoon
And dessert in the evening
At night they shared
A glass of bitter lemon
On the rocks
Then,
Morning slipped into afternoon
And,
The sun went down
The moon eclipsed
And the stars faded
Then,
Night came downstairs
Closely tailgated by darkness
Night closed the drapes
And,
Embraced Darkness
Then,
They fell into
A deep ditch dream......
Sleep well....
