Ignoring the Sign

She wore a sign around her neck That read, “No Soliciting” She said she didn’t want to get involved But I was not listening Relationships add complexity And she wanted to simplify But the moment that she smiled back at me I knew that rule I would not comply I didn’t mean to interfere With a course so well defined But the best laid plans of mice and men So often get undermined I knew that she could not ignore The sparks that between us both did fly And since our first meeting that took place yesterday Twenty beautiful years have passed us by When your spouse is your best friend Bumpy roads are smooth as ice I’m so glad those twenty years ago Shyness was not my vice
