If Your Heart Were a Pillow

It’s time to close my eyes and go to sleep and all I can think of is your magnificent heart. It is soft and sensitive and cradles my thoughts. It’s the topic of most of the conversations in my head. “Your heart is the most beautiful in the universe!” I said. I long to lay down on it like a soft pillow for the rest of my life. I can even hear its ever constant pace. It pitters and patters until my lashes softly close. It’s like a smooth ticking clock that is wound for eternity. If your heart were a pillow I would rest my hair on it each and every night. I would never share it with a single soul. I would nestle up close to it and for once my life would seem whole. Every pain in my life would be instantly erased. If only your heart were my pillow my life would seem whole. gwendolen rix 9-2-15
