If You Only Knew the Depths of Child's Pain

did you ever descry the traces of crimson etch endless paths above the ocean or see the sun bleed in greater depths as it bid farewell to amethyst hues in dusk's skies before darkness settled in like thoughts invading mind's as night's dew fell heavy in struggled breaths the rhythm of day winding down beneath the ocean's pulse as it lashed back wet-kissing the shore as your heart sank into unknown layers of torment of secrets tumbling along through the motions of life, as if lost there was no treasure there just whispered cries as fate tempted tiny hands to lash back bridge the gap of life and death a lifeless body breathless before me rested beneath the ground where i stood buried yet alive in apperception of closed eyes i traced the edges of debilitated pain childhood memories pressing back in blades of grass and more across folds of flesh connecting freckles on ivory canvas as i bled deep my pain but your never saw the scores of lines that led back to you i'd assail you who caused this pain in scribbles on paperless sheets where thoughts trickled in crimson ink from depths hidden within a child's mind as she wondered alone, unseen August 26, 2019 If only you knew poetry contest Sponsored by Silent one

- A deeply sad poem, Sandra - I am left with a question: What does it do to a small human child when no one has loved them unconditionally ? - Children need to be seen and heard - Best wishes in the contest - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Thanks Anne-Lise....i guess it makes them settle for fake love as they get older, because they never experienced real love... hugs :)

Well written Sandra, as adults we have our own problems but often forgetting that children too have feelings and emotions that are just as important and need addressing. Good luck. Tom

Your poem, so well written, evokes the pain you write about.. in imagery that paints the feelings.. so well expressed. You always write winning poems, Sandra.

Such a deep and dark poem of a child's inner pain, those things not discussed, left trapped inside to fester. Smiles disappear as lonely frowns and dampened eyes take their place. This is beautifully written, very descriptive, a poem that that reader can feel as reaches in and grabs their heart. Absolutely wonderful in a dark and lonely kind of way. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you Chris, sometimes lives are so busy they not only miss the beauty of nature but they miss the pain in loved ones because they skip through the day emotionless and blind to everything around them, children need nurturing and often people forget... hugs :)
