If I Could Make You Happy

If I could make you happy, How wondrous that would be, My step might be more snappy, My spirit be more free. My Praises last forever, My life could be a song, My joy – each new endeavor, I’d feel like I belong. But happiness is chosen, Not just a gift that stays, An antidote to poison A choice that can amaze. And so I must choose happy, Enjoy life as I can, Reject a life that’s crappy Face fortune like a man! My heart, I swear, is hoping That you’ll follow my lead And when you find me moping, Remind me of this creed. The twists life brings aren’t caring Pay no heed to our cries, But joy’s a friend of sharing That shames our alibis. Brian Johnston Dec 31, 2014
