Idle Hands
Standing at the train station
thousands of people around
a father arguing with his child
the child had joined a gang
He hoped to take her home
but with fifty kids in the gang
he had no hope
the child was lost never to see a future
kids without jobs
join together as groups
those groups become gangs
somebody introduces drugs
drugs cost money
home invasions
provide the money for drugs
the child is lost to violence and pain
society becomes riddled with violence
and pain
give the child a job
they save to build a home
they meet and fall in love
they build a future together
the child becomes a man
the man becomes a father
the path to success
comes on the back bone
of hard work
your future is up to you.
Investing together
we can build the jobs
that change the life
of our children
we can make the future
that brings peace to our city's
we can make a future
that brings peace to our world
If every man and woman
refused to pick up a gun
there could be no more wars
the world would be at peace.
It everybody invested
in creating company's
there would be jobs for all the people
we could overcome poverty
