I Was Helped Not Lost

I was lost, held and helped You may speak none stop but that day I knew it was not wrong I was held, helped and lost I faced challenges, by the time i saw him, his face was scrambling, harsh But i knew the time was right With his African smooth talking But now, i know i was held not lost but helped Speak up for the bright things and future I was helped, held and lost As a bright black African girl I was not deceived i was helped But though i achieved cause i was helped Not embarrassed, the dignity-integrity and trust was gone Even though i was not proud But i was helped I was helped Not lost.
