I Want To Fall In Love With You

I Want (To Fall In Love With You) This is how the title SHOULD look! I want to fall in love with you I know that’s what you want too Yet still I hold back and hesitate On becoming fully intimate As much as my heart and body say It will be fine; it’ll be okay. Still, though, I cower and hide From openly standing at your side In this supposed enlightened age There are those that we will enrage For our kind of love is still too often seen As vile and dirty, unnatural and obscene Although we’re careful and show respect People still complain and object. They call us names that are hard to hear And leave me trembling with fear I know my feelings are real and true And I so much want to be with you But until I’m sure that we can be together In safety and comfort for forever I’ll have to deny and repress My hopes for lasting happiness As a gay man in a society That won’t allow our love to be. I want to fall in love with you There’s nothing more I want to do For too long now I have lived a lie And no matter how hard I try To ignore the feelings that fill my heart It’s fear that is keeping us apart I want you and need and love you too: Oh, dear God, what am I going to do?
