I Took My Child To Church Today- Tribute

I took my child to church today to see the face of God and now I take that little boy and place him in the sod My heart, my joy, my everything a bullet took away the words had not yet left our hearts as we knelt down to pray the bullets rang about our ears and one by one they fell I grabbed my bleeding boy to me as church turned into hell there's nothing that will bring him back my heart like his is dead I took my child to church today who'll fill his empty bed? Hi Eileen, What a sad tribute piece. It is so devasting that a house of worship is no longer safe. Thanks for shedding light on such a sensitive and heart wrenching topic- Alexis

Your poem is amazing; it reads like an old ballad as you retell this heartbreaking story. It is nuts that we cannot get a handle on guns in this country. How many more people have to die?

Thank you, dear. The news of the shooting in the Baptist church in Texas really is disturbing and sad. May God comfort the hearts of those who are in pain right now.

It is truly sad Eileen when we can't even go to worship without having to fear for the safety of our loved ones.

Yes, Tim. This isn't the first of its kind. I'm afraid it won't be the last either.

Thank you for your visit, Becca. This is the second mass shooting that takes place in a church. It comes so soon after the shooting at the concert. I can only imagine the pain that the survivors are going through

Very poignant. It seems there is more value placed on guns in USA than there is on human life.

It's sad that they are rather easy to obtain, from what I understand. Also, modifications can be made that enables the shooter to get more people. I follow the news and the battle over gun control. It's always the innocent who pay the price.
