I Stand As a Black Woman
I stand as a black woman with dignity and pride
I smile to keep the sadness from ruining my high
High off life is what I mean
I hope you can comprehend from what I glean
I walk with a bounce in my step and my back straight as an arrow
I say that you should keep your eye on me and not on the sparrow
I am proud to be a black woman and all that it signifies
For I am a black woman and I'll hold my head up high
I come in shades of you, if you will like many colors of a rainbow
None of the colors more beautiful than the others just all have their own special
glow
So keep standing tall my sisters and pull together within
For we are all shades of you, if you will and we are all in
