I Sit Here Alone

I sit here alone in the night looking out at the horizon watching as the gathering storm clouds are outlined by flashes of lightning in the inky blackness The wind begins lashing at the trees as the fury of the storm draws ever nearer and the rolling cascade of thunder reaches my ears The raw energy within the towering clouds remind me of you and a pang of longing flows through me at the memory of those days and nights together It was a time when our love was fanned by the winds of passion and desire and it burned white hot like the lightning flashing across the skies But all too soon the winds calmed and the passion faded and you simply turned and walked away... leaving in your wake the wreckage of our love The pouring rain forces me from my memories as the heat of remembered passion is cooled and brokenheartedly I sit here alone... mkt 2017

An outpouring of emotions that surges up from the heart and splashes against the page. Like a cleansing rain the author pours out his soul and feels saddened by the experience. Emile.

Excellent write Michael, the imagery married with emotion and movement through an entire love affair, sweeping. So much in so few perfectly chosen words. 7 :)
