Why I Have Not Been a Christian, and Why That Might Change ...

Poem written and submitted for Unseeking Seeker's "I Saw God But Now What" contest 4/13/2024

Line of inquiry: Yes, I affirm, I have seen God, but He appeared and then disappeared. This knowing that transcends mind, left me awed. But until what’s imbibed is assimilated, by fears I’m seared.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I saw you, God, or thought I did. But then you disappeared. I breathed in and I breathed out. I peer through my fear and dark shadows to the spot over Your head. What was above You was Infinite and Divine.
BUT NOW WHAT?
Now ‘He so loved,’ I begin to understand. Now, You're oxygen to me. In the air, I know You're there Beyond my fears and what I can see. You see as I see, especially inside of me. You quietly move as I move. No "I" and no "God." When I breathe, You breathe. When I move, You move. Together we dance. In the silent grass, in morning's colored light, I hear Your eternal pulse beating.
I AM IN AWE.
Your heart touches mine, like sun heats cold river stone, warming me with agape love. The veil falls away showing me Your perfection. My new eyes bow down. I bow down before the shrine of each moment You’ve given me, for life is You singing to me. All moments belong to You. Everything is You. No night and no day only Your single breath, and the eternal now.
NOW WHAT?
Now, I walk pinnately with faith, through Your guiding light. I close my eyes, smiling, with faith and love in my heart, daily imbibing.
Dear Sara, this is a very remarkable poem. Spirituality requires good meditation. Your entry for the contest is just delightful. Your poem, in my opinion, inspires readers to consider their relationships with God and how religion may bring light into the darkest of times, and that's obvious. It exemplifies how faith can change one's life and how beautiful it is to give in to the spiritual energy that is around. BOL with the contest.
Sometimes, i look around, see gods creation too and am left in awe, a reminder of our creator, and makes me think, God must be an artist, how beautiful is nature and all that around where we feel that connection, spiritually, i really resonated with the lines “In the silent grass, in morning's colored light, I hear Your eternal pulse beating.” Powerful and so deeply moving! Brilliant take on the line of enquiry! This should do very well! Best wishes
A thoughtful, meaningful discourse on divine presence, Sara.----All moments belong to You. Everything is You. No night and no day only Your single breath, and the eternal now---your words of faith resonate.
A wonderful take on the contest, dear Sara.. I felt your poem poem invites the reader to reflect on their own relationship with the divine and the ways in which faith can illuminate even the darkest of moments. It is a testament to the transformative power of belief and the profound beauty of surrendering to the divine presence that permeates all of existence.
