I Remember the Day

I remember the day when comments were the main They're all very instrumental to the Soup's mainframe Some comments are influential that created other writes And many were like tuition that kept us crisp and bright But there now appears a drought growing larger every day We need to increase our comments as they help us write our says Maybe it's time for change, for the Soup to alter it's route Many foundations have recently left, will others follow suit The columns showing us the views, tells us nothing at all How many have clicked on a poem thinking that's a bit of a trawl So another poem was open and not a word was read So basically the views are worthless, because comments are our thread We can learn from our comments but we will never learn from the views It's our democratic choice for all, of what we do and choose Nothing stays the same for ever as it appears to be It's still the worlds best poetry site, that's down to you and me http://www.thehighlanderspoems.com/poetry-soup-13.php

Dear James, many are disappointed when only one of a dozen viewers leaves a comment. Let's do away with the view numbers altogether and the "ratings" as well since so many forget to include them. It is the comments that make us realize the value in the transmission of our thoughts. You have a 7 from me and a favorite as well. Love, Carolyn

So, in conclusion, OUT with the numbers game we have here for some things, for example, on the ratings box from one to seven as well, Half of us forget to do that, good grief!! Just because it is on my mind, I will give you a famous seven for your poem here. (I don't have one poem on Soup that has ended up with a pure seven average, and I'll eat my hat to find one person with over 15 comments who DOES) LUv, Andrea

SO TRUE< I Have said all along, the VIEWS means nothing. It can indicate something if there are many many views, but in the end, we can't know how those views were arrived at. I often open the same person's poem time and time again thinking it was one I had not viewed before. If someone is a popular poet and lots of people keep forgetting which of his many poems they have read, he is gonna be swamped with views. I have a few like that. I am sure many premium members do. I have learned from the views that when I go there to reread, to correct, to alter, or any other thing it is also counted...I did not know that so it is possible that a large portion of my views are me, myself, and I...The way I found out was I just did it to see if the count went up and yep it does ....I go back to my poems when I read the comments, also and that counts as one view...Glad that you wrote this one..The hot poems list is not just on the views but it is calculated another way..Sara

Very well said James. It can be quite disappointing to see all of those views but no comments. I'm still new here & am just following suit at the moment, but I would love to see more constructive and helpful reviews. I want to improve, and what better way to learn, than from other poets ~ Sharon :)
