I Read the Books
I read the books, the books I read.
they draw my eye, they meet my need.
I drink the words that fill the page,
explore the worlds authors engage,
I ride the tides swept by the moon,
hear lions roar and call of the loon,
sway to the music of all races,
visit many exotic places.
I cannot throw a book away,
they stack my shelves, forever stay.
I pull them out and read once more
of souls like me who've gone before
They lure me with a siren's call,
they steal my time, they take my all.
