I Painted a Picture

I painted a picture of you when my teeth were still unstained,my skin was fare and when the suns rays echoed a song of beauty to my brown eyes. I painted a picture of you when my heart was not broken and I knew a peace that only the gods could provide. I painted a picture of you in the wilderness while the lions and crocodiles roamed freely and they were at home and I too felt at home inside of them. but then the rain started falling and there were no more birds in the skies singing "we meet again beautiful one" The scars which were in my heart that my caramel skin had hidden so beautiful had been exposed and you decided to marinate me with salt and stare at me point blank and still tell me that you loved me. I allowed for myself to be vulnerable and as stupid as that was I then let down my walls why saying "you will be my shelter when the rain comes" but the rain came and I failed to see the umbrella of your arms protecting me and the picture that I had painted was now nothing but had used to be.
