I Needed
I needed someone to understand me
To hear my words…
Not as they sounded
But as I meant those words to be
I wanted someone to know me
To look at me…
Not as I appear
But as the one I am that no one else sees
I longed for someone to love me
To need me…
Not for what I could do for them
But for what I gave for free
And just when I thought I was never
Going to get it
That my wants and dreams were not important
Just when I was thinking I was living far too selfishly
God gave you to me
