I Loved You To Death Because I Loved You
I loved you to death, because I loved you.
I followed your every waking step and
gnawed at your every private thought. I gifted
you my silences and then savaged you my words.
I suffocated your ears and stifled your eyes.
You could not control my jealousies against
your wits, because I loved you. And I became
vindictive toward you, only because I loved you
I was sadistic until you broke and your prayers
and pleadings brought you no comfort. I loved you
so that no others may and I warped your eye
until you could not see a straight thought
I persecuted your daily colour with muslin
shrouded pall, until I took the rope from about
your neck. All because I loved you
Rest now and be happy for me that I have
found another to cherish. But, this is not farewell,
soft skin and delicate mind. I shall return weekly,
carrying flowers with kaliedoscope hues. All
because I love you
