I Love the Night
I love the night.
The consolation of the night, the shining of the moon,
The dissipating of bracing twilights in the late afternoon,
The singing of birds, the effulgence of stars,
The sound of fair winds rustling the grass,
The blow of the breeze, the glister of a moon that’s fair,
The quietude of a luminous plate floating in the air,
The peace unsullied by the dirt, the teasing of the mind,
The dancing of the moon to the gentle night wind,
The tsau! tsau! of stars, the moon hungry again,
The way of the night with a strange sound of rain –
Flourishes wee tares all that might.
I love the night.
