I love the night, wandering in wide tranquil countryside, in the dim light of the pinhead stars, with their intricate constellations, a nocturnal symphony that helps give directions to wayward hitchhikers that roam in off course pathways. I love the night, imbibing the perfumes of the ambrosial countryside. The newly cut hay, the wayside fragrant flowers, all covered with a fine dew spreading delicate exquisite odors in country meadows. I love the night. In the open vistas, where all daily cares just fade away, like wispy steam from a far off train. A soft music can be heard behind thick hedges, but be aware, think not of the ugly resonance that go bump in the night. I love the night. The winking owls hoot in lament, grasshoppers sing in close-mouthed consent, soggy frogs give an occasional harsh croak, but birds sleep happily on lofty trees. Isn't it a wonderful place to be? Thank you, God for providing me the night.

There is a slight Halloween flavor in your poem, Victor. Grateful for the night I am as well "but be aware, think not of the ugly resonance that go bump in the night" whimsy. We are privileged. Crickets were stirring the night before, a sound so rare to me, and I was truly grateful! Blessings to you

What a lovely poem of the night. I guess we take so much for granted, spending our nights in front of the TV. whereas we should be perhaps looking at the beauty of the stars. There is a lot of imagery in your poetic lines, dearest Victor. I should really go out now and smell the sweet jasmine. Love and Hugs

A beautiful poem of the night Victor, it would be lovely to live surrounded by countryside, to enjoy the peace and quiet. Wouldn’t dare to walk out at night here for fear…. Belle

Magnificent poem, Victor. You've beautifully captured much of what is seen, heard, and smiled at night. I agree...it's a lovely, calm, relaxing part of the day. We live in a semi-rural area and have countryside behind our house. I love the smell of freshly baled hay and enjoy the sounds of the crickets, frog, etc. Your poem spoke to me! enjoy your evening and upcoming nighttime. :-) Sara

Lovely imagery, Victor -- indeed, I agree. Most of my writing done during the quieted night; the night a notebook of inspiration, opened with a starry twinkle. Blessings.
