I Knew I Was Right
Once knew, from a far, a lady dainty.
My heart raced in timid despair at
the
Thought faintest she were; time grew
a feet cold,
Wind became shy ere she walked by
my road.
'Tho heavy my heart so felt, our
fingers did
Oft kiss and lips moved at calm
ease; but the
Strength my frail heart found could
utter not it,
'Tho he saw signs to show alone he
wasn't.
Mimes read from her eyes was the
twine that held
My heart till distance took us part.
Silence
So loud spoke as eyes beam'd under
the cloud,
Till her bulb's light lit out and blew
so loud.
I knew I was right all this while from
signs,
But it turned a gall gulf too great in
time.
