I Just Can'T Not Love Her
I Just Can’t Not Love Her
I just can’t not love her.
Time has changed a lot -
height, weight, hair color
and yet has not altered her.
Eyes that offer golden portal
to a spirit’s soaring soul,
soft lips that kiss the wind
offering their touch
to distant, lonely things.
Age, and suspect wisdom,
have not jaded her enthusiasm,
nor love’s forever promise
become a passionless chore.
Each touch a gift, each smile
the light of seasoned warmth.
I have never tried to love her
for love does not need trying.
I just can’t not love her.
