I Have Moved
Beseech me not, for I have moved far, far from that once safe harbour,
gone away now to the place that lies beyond our oldest memories
Sympathy's soft shoulder sits no more to catch those tears,
no tender touch comes from a hand, no sighs or sobs await
Dear Compassion no longer lingers here, it's long ago cast off its lines
and set sail for calmer seas and warmer climes
Mother Mercy sings here no more, her tender voice now rings out
in that country where only those with love can hear
Even the old crone, Mistress Pity's shuttered her windows to the cold
winds of this longest of all our many frigid winters
Beseech me not, for I have moved far, far from that once warm hearth,
no stool is waiting by the fire to melt a cold, cold heart
