I Dreamt It
I dreamt it and now the s c e n e decays and withers away,
all those past sorrows that come slithering when I close my eyes;
oh, will there be a time when sadness fades, dims and dies, I pray,
when I do not linger amongst stones cold and angels weeping;
holding a ruby red r o s e while memories come creeping.
When even the birds stop singing in my dreamy blue indigo skies,
oh, will there be a night of no n i g h t m a r e s when I am sleeping;
when I can put my head upon my pillow until the break of day.
