I Can Smell the Snow
As I look up into the heavy laden, pink night sky
I can almost smell snow, as my Nan would say in years gone by.
The sky is heavy I am sure it will give its all
I look up, ‘Hey Nan, can you see me?’ I cautiously call.’
I can feel her around me her warm breath on my cheek
It warms me to the heart as I eagerly seek.
She was right! I did smell the first winter’s snowfall
The flakes start to spiral down, majestically, covering all.
They settle on my eyes my cheeks and my lips,
Dancing and swirling - each as unique as our fingertips.
They land so soft, no noise do they make silence is all around.
I stand in wonder at the beauty, the flakes merge and cover the ground.
A Winter Couplet
First Snowfall.
