I Can Hear the Bells
I can hear the bells
From across the town
Just to hear them ring
Can make my heart swell
The sound comes to me
On the warm desert air
A sound unmistakable
A joyful melody
I can hear the bells
Oh to be right there
Near the church when they play
To watch the people stop
As if the sound were so rare
It seeps inside of you
You can feel each tone
In a special caress
One that you never knew
I can hear the bells
For the newlyweds
The bells peal the wedding song
To announce to one and all
That they have made a pledge
But when a soul has passed
The bells seem to weep
They sing out their grief
With their ambiance
I can hear the bells
There are two special times
When the bells outdo themselves
One to ring in His birth
One to herald that He rose
There will come a day
When the bells will cry for me
A sad and lonely song they’ll send
Over the town and valley
Will you hear the bells
