I Am the Lad
Fifties and hundreds are set in companies upon the grass;
Is not there a cause? Yea, but in this desert place, who will give
Victuals to so great a multitude? Give ye them to
Eat. But we have not the sufficiency to buy enough bread
for all of these that they may even take a
Little. How many loaves have ye? Go and see. Then
One of the twelve said, There is a lad here with five loaves and two fishes, but
Among so many what are they? Maybe we should send them away to the
Villages. But Jesus said, Bring them hither to me; and He lifted up His
Eyes, and blessed and brake the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to
Set before the multitude; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
When all were then filled and satisfied, Jesus said,
The Fragments that remain, gather up that no thing be lost; and that
Which was left over they gathered together and filled twelve baskets
Of the five barley loaves and two small fishes that were blessed
over and above unto those who had eaten, which were about
Five thousand men, besides the women and children. And I, Stachys,
I am the lad who gave and witnessed these things, not knowing the latter end
Should greatly increase; yet, willingly, I still gave, and like the
Heads of Grain that stand out from the stalk, even as the
Ears of corn, I was made an abundance through grace to be a
Supply for their want, and also a partaker with them lacking nothing.
